Mountain Findings of  Highlands, North Carolina

A Community of Giving

Mountain Findings of Highlands, North Carolina started in 1969 and on May 10,  1972 became a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.  Since then, nearly $5 MILLION has been given back into our community through grants. From humble beginnings over half a century ago, the first grants given out totaled $200.  Mountain Findings emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support the community, and a desire for actions to speak louder than words.

In 2006, Mountain Findings marked a milestone by reaching its 1-millionth dollar raised.  This went toward an $8,000 grant awarded to the Town of Highlands for metal benches along the main street.

Volunteers

Each year our 100% volunteer-run organization thrives due to our volunteers who unselfishly donate collectively an estimated 24,000 hours in running the Thrift Store.  This represents a $528,000 value.

Annually, our community Thrift Store receives thousands of donated items to resale.  We believe that a single action can make a difference in the community. Our team of nearly 80-volunteers works tirelessly to contribute their part to the greater good.

Volunteers are needed to help in organizing, pricing, cleaning, pick-up, working on days open to the public, and much more.
